18

You have made an executive decision in life to go to a culinary arts school. Now what? Culinary arts schools have many options, around the world, even. To choose one, you need to consider several aspects. Think that it does not matter? Around the world there are hundreds of thousands of people looking to be the next big chef. One of the first deciding factors on who you are as a chef is the culinary arts school that you attend. On that note, this will help you to find some answers to your questions about finding the best culinary arts school for you.

Your first decision is to select an area you will specialize in the art of cooking. Bakery, gourmet, and everything in between are your options. Not sure yet? Then, look for a culinary arts school that can provide you with a basic learning of many aspects of the art of cooking. This will lead to a foundation of love in one or more eventually.

Use the world wide web as a information source. You have heard it before, but most culinary arts schools now have the ability to provide details about their school, including why you should choose them, on their websites. This is an excellent way for you to learn more about the culinary schools on a preliminary plane.

Venture into the arena of scholarships. Look at culinary arts schools that are abroad. Understand the various schools of thought that are presented in each culinary arts school. Ask questions and get answers.

Visit the culinary arts schools that are known for their excellent students. Find out where students who have graduated from that school have gone and done with their lives. Observe a class, and tour the schools’s campus.

Of course, one of the largest concerns that people have when it comes to culinary school choice is the cost. These culinary schools are not cheap by any means, but the education you get will last you a lifetime. It is wise to consider quality well over price as much as you can. And, make sure to look into financial planning and financial aid.

Choosing a culinary arts school that feels right is important. Get all aspects of the decision just right and you can find yourself on your way to earning a culinary arts school degree in no time.

Maori Education The Path to Our Future

1

Figures recently released by the Ministry of Education show that there has been a steady growth in Maori tertiary enrolments. However, although there has been growth in enrolment figures, this growth has been attributed primarily to growth in attendance at Wananga and educational institutes that empower Maori to embrace not only the learning of their history and culture, but teach mainstream educational courses in a manner that appeals to the style and formality of the Maori culture itself.

However, the figures also indicate that Maori are less likely to enrol in tertiary education facilities during the core tertiary ages of 18 to 24. According to the University of Waikato, a number of factors have been identified as affecting the successful participation of Maori students in tertiary education. These include the transition and adaption to unfamiliar environments and learning procedures, inappropriate support systems, financial barriers and a lack of social and academic support. A number of studies have highlighted the high number of students who are first generation participants in tertiary education, for whom adjusting to the practices and rules of a new environment without the support of whanau (family) is difficult.

Nonetheless, the emerging signs and trends of increasing Maori participation in tertiary education institutes are encouraging. Further research into the role of Maori education has highlighted the need to tailor the learning style, experience and environment to suit the aspirations of the Maori culture and the value of the whanau.

According to a review of Maori education conducted by MAI in 2007, the further education of the individuals, both young and old, is essential for the continued development and future prosperity of Maori and the culture. With a better educated population base, the review proposes that Maori will be better able to determine their own futures and prosper, both economically and socially. Marginal educational records and enrolments affect the future prospects of the individual and the whanau. However, several initiatives are proving very successful in respect to enrolment and completion rate of Maori students. These include empowering Maori in the community to take on leading roles in education institutions, developing role models that young Maori aspire to replicate.

Leading tertiary providers in New Zealand have realised these facts and have created tertiary environments that not only cater for the general public, but provide specific learning styles, teachings and learning environments that are conducive to the continued promotion of Maori education. Those who are serious about Maori education have gone so far as to provide customary Maori buildings, such as the marae, which is not only the focus of the whanau, but learning and education. Plus some institutions provide a”Manaakitanga” programme designed to support students’ success in their studies.

College Student Credit Cards Friend or Foe

14

There is much debate surrounding college student credit cards. Some swear up and down that they’re a disaster waiting to happen while others vehemently object and insist they are a must-have financial tool for college students. Which side is right?

When deciding whether college student credit cards are good or bad, you need to weigh the facts. These three truths will help you come to your own conclusion.

1. Aggressive Marketing

College student credit cards have gotten a bad rap when it comes to their marketing tactics — and some would say that it’s for good reason. You can’t hit a single college campus without coming across at least one application for college student credit cards.

That being said, while the applications are definitely readily available (to put it lightly), no one is forcing college students to sign the application. It’s the responsibility of a parent to instruct their children on wise financial decisions.

The credit card companies are marketing their product — that’s what they do. Parents need to do their part and make sure that they instruct their children in the ways of the credit world.

2. They’ve Got to Grow Up Sometime

Everyone has to grow up sooner or later and college student credit cards can provide some priceless lessons in the world of adult finance. For the first time, college students can be responsible for their own spending and their own monthly bills.

Yes, college student credit cards can provide the potential for disaster (but so can a number of situations that students encounter in college). Just because student credit cards have the potential to be misused, it doesn’t mean that they will be. Have some faith in today’s college students!

3. Paving the Way

Once a college student graduates, they’re going to need some things (a place to live and a car to name a few) and they’re going to need credit to get the things they need. If they don’t start building their credit history in college, when are they supposed to do it?

If a college student wants to be completely prepared when they graduate, they’re going to need to work on building a solid credit history while they’re in school. College student credit cards can be the means to that end.

If you know a college student (or are a college student) who has been debating about whether college student credit cards are good or bad, consider the above three facts and remember, it’s not college student credit cards themselves that are good are bad — it is who is using them and how they are being used that make the difference.

The Current Range Of Teaching Assistant Courses Explained

17

In the UK Teaching Assistants are still not officially required to hold any formal qualifications. However, in reality most schools now only fill new Teaching Assistant posts with qualified people. This means completing a Teaching Assistant Course is a good move.

Finding the correct Teaching Assistant course for you takes a little of your time and some careful research. There are 2 main kinds of Teaching Assistant courses available. They are divided up into work related or work based courses, a subtle but important difference. Which course you can take depends on your personal work circumstances.

The NVQ courses are all work based. To qualify to do an NVQ course you need to currently be working in a classroom, in an assistance role. You will also need to find a teacher or a similar person to act as a mentor for you. Your role at the school need not be a paid role you could just be working at the school as a volunteer.

Instead of taking an NVQ course you could choose to take a BTEC course instead. Like the NVQ a BTEC course is work based, so you must be working in a classroom to complete the course. There are 3 levels of BTEC course, which is right for you depends on your current level of responsibility and how experienced you are. In order to take a BTEC course you usually need to have passed a few GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.

There are several other Teaching Assistant Certification or Diploma courses that do not require you to be currently working in a classroom. These are considered to be work related courses. You can take these courses remotely without stepping foot in a classroom, however at the end of most of these courses you are usually assessed in a classroom environment.

Discover 7 Core Teaching Strategies To Become A Terrific Teacher

21

At times, teachers may feel inundated with theories, methodologies, teaching strategies, etc.etc.etc.

But please know that you can decide on how you want to run your classroom, and how you want to apply your teaching strategies.

One bit of information that I always pass on to my student teachers and teachers with little experience, is that it’s important to learn from more experienced teachers by watching them teach and reading as much as they can about any teaching strategies they have written. After that they will be in a much better position to pick and choose the teaching methods that suit them them the best.

Here are my top “7 Essential Core Teaching Strategies” that have held true for me throughout my 33 years of teaching from K-6.

1. Classroom Management is the teaching strategy that I consider to be most important in creating an effective teaching environment to ensure that your lessons will run smoothly and each teaching day will be a success.

There are many facets to ensuring effective classroom management including assertive classroom discipline, classroom behavior management, verbal and non-verbal communication strategies, classroom rules and classroom time management. Learning the details behind these essential classroom management strategies is the first step to success.

2. Know your students well. You should have different expectations for each one of your students. It is imperative to create a genuine bond with them (by the way that works both ways).

3. Continually Encourage and Motivate. Have your students set their own goals, helping them to attain them and then strive for new ones.

4. Build an effective teacher student relationship by displaying a caring and compassionate attitude towards your students. Show that you’re interested in them as people and they will return the favour (in most cases). Be sure to build up their self worth by maintaining a positive disposition.

5. Maintaining a communication dialogue with parents is very important. You are responsible for and accountable to your students so you must be professional, ready to meet and discuss any situation with parents. In some cases this will require a fair bit of tact and diplomacy on your part. On the other hand parents must respect you and your efforts as well.

6. Teachers need to show accountability primarily towards their students. But they are also accountable to parents, their school and themselves to provide their best effort every day throughout the year.

7. Teaching is “the best profession ever” if you have a real passion for it. Show your love for what you do, have FUN with your students and you will all benefit and learn from your experiences.

Digest these teaching strategies, play around with them, and implement those that fit your style of teaching. I truly hope that following these strategies will help you out and will make your life a little easier.

Try These Strategies and Have Fun!

Tytler Demands University Named After Guru Govind Singh

20

Tytler Demands University Named after Guru Govind SinghA Congress delegate led by Bihar in-charge Jagdish Tytler on Sunday met with Governor Debananda Konwar and urged him to set up a new university in Bihar named after the 10th Sikh sage Guru Govind Singh.

Besides Tytler, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) President Anil Kumar Sharma, Ashok Chowdhary, Vijay Singh Yadav, Girish Sanghi, Prof. Dalveer Singh, Gurudayal Singh, Gurjit Singh, and All India Congress Committee secretary Sagar Raika also appealed to the Governor to take initiative to start Guru Govind Singh University in Bihar.

Tytler said the Governor gave him his word to apprise Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of their demands.
The Congress leader also ruled out removal of Sharma as the BPCC chief saying Sharma had proven himself to be very successful in handling Bihar affairs and the party did not see any reason to replace him with someone else.

As reported, a handful of disgruntled Congress leaders had earlier written to Congress President Sonia Gandhi to sack Sharma on charges of failure to revive the party in the state and failing to promote party agenda in Bihar.
“Previous state presidents either joined hands with Lalu Prasad Yadav or Nitish Kumar when they thought Congress was sinking. Sharma, on the other hand, stuck with the party through thick and thin and has proven his mettle as an effective leader in Bihar,” Tytler said.
Akali dal dumb:roll of BJP & RSS in 1984 Sikh riots
Why Akali Dal is dumb on the role of BJP and RSS whereas they holding mass agitations against congress in the name of justice to Sikhs. Why are they protecting BJP and RSS? Looks Akali Dal is another political party trying to get political profits out of the 1984 riot issue. Now the big question is raised, Is Akali Dal fighting for Sikhs or fighting for it’s own political interests? The role of BJP & RSS is very clear in 1984 riots, still Akali Dal is making statements against congress in the name of Sikh justice whereas remains quite about the FIRs against BJP & RSS members during 1984 riots.

Students Preparing For IIT JEE Need Coaching

5

It is always better to trail a path by holding hand of a person, who knows the path well. Then you are aware of the ups and downs of the path. This holds true for IIT JEE preparation also.

When a student opts for coaching classes then he knows the complicacies of the exam. He is guided by imminent Professors. They take the path of success and students can also trail the path along with them.

A good student puts in all the effort but if there is no proper guidance; then he might not succeed in exam. IIT JEE is a well conducted exam and it needs thorough preparations. Any small mistake may lead to a difference in score and hence a difference in achievement.

The student wants a high score in IIT JEE to get the desired branch and have loads of knowledge in the field of interest. This can only be achieved through high score. The high score is attributed to IIT JEE coaching. A team of highly qualified Professionals are available to coach the students in their field and achieve the target easily.

Students preparing for IIT JEE need proper coaching regular or online as the choice may be. This will help in getting the right path to tread. It needs lot of determination for proper self-study. Students can study well but cant study so well without proper aid.

As it is IIT JEE preparation needs strong will-power and determination. And if the student does not get proper back-up, then the stamina is broken leading to inadequate preparation. And none of the students want this kind of attitude towards preparations.

IIT JEE coaching is a motivational factor to keep the student going. Professors conduct tests on regular basis to assess the students performance and prepare them for future tests. Professors teach the students well and conduct regular tests. These tests allure the students to take up their lessons well and achieve their target with ease.

Professors also deliver motivational talks for students if they dont perform well. Sometimes, students get distracted by some external factors. Professors also take care to get them back to their ultimate goal IIT JEE. All these reasons make coaching compulsory for IIT entrance test.
